• 1914 Kaiser William 11 promised Austria German military support against Serbia
• 1943 operation Citadel Germans launch a massive offensive stretching 200 miles against huge opposing Russian forces which in many power and armaments outweigh Germans, massive losses are inflicted.
• 1950 arrival of UN task force Smith  in Korean War this is first military unit to engage enemy.
