1941 - Luftwaffe launches attack on London of 712 bomber planes which kill 449 people including the worst loss to fire brigade history of 34 firemen.
1942 - US Filipino garrison on Cebu islands surrender to the Japanese.
1943 - Thousands of Jews in the Warsaw Ghettos begin an uprising against the Nazi forces but are quickly crushed.
