  • 1914 Archduke Franz Ferdinand heir to Austria-Hungarian throne was assassinated which started events leading to WW1.
  • 1943 RAF bomb Cologne the Cathedral is badly damaged and parts of city is flattened.
  • 1950 Seoul falls the N.Korean tanks overwhelmed the S.Korean forces to take control of the city.
