• 1918 Battle of Belleauwood Americans launched 6 attacks to dislodge Germans from there dug in positions which eventually worked.
• 1944 Red Army recaptures Orsha and destroys the German 53rd Korps near Visebsk.
• 1950 the UN Security Council passes resolution 83 authorising member states to assist S.Korea against N.Korea.
