• 1917 3rd battle of Ypres commonly known as Pashendale started with French and British forces attacking German positions, huge daily losses in soldiers lives are recorded fighting in muddy conditions it’s hard going
• 1940 Hitler holds meeting with his top military planners and generals discussed invasion of Britain with his Navy chiefs criticising plan of using 2500 barges, Hitler then instead announced plan to invade Russia
• 1945 Former head of Vichy French Government Pierre Laval is arrested in Spain and sent to Austria immediately arrested by Americans and British soon to stand trial and hung.
