Philip Hunt, born 18/03/1900 in Henry Street, Chester.
Served in both WW1 and WW2.
Joined the Royal Navy aged 16 (!), serving from 1916 to 1942 as a Stoker First Class, deep in the bowels of the ships.
He was a member of the crew that served in the Battle of Jutland.
Some of the ships he served on include the Vivid, Devonport, Dauntless, Isis, Eaglet, Drake – amongst others.
He used to claim his birthday was on 17 March so he could exploit the St Patrick's day celebrations, take advantage of the festivities and enjoy the party atmosphere with friends!
Died 02/03/1982 – aged 81 years.
