Museum of Prison X

The Xth Pavilion of the Citadel Warsaw (X Pawilon Cytadeli Warszawskiej) is a former prison on the grounds of the Warsaw Citadel. Today it is host to one of the most important museums on martyrdom in Poland. Three permanent exhibitions are shown in the museum. The first exhibition traces the struggle of Polish patriots for the independence of their country in the time of the Russian occupation from the November Uprising 1830/31 to 1918), another on Józef Piłsudski, the most prominent detainee in the Xth Pavilion and the third exhibition on Sybiraks 1940–1956, Poles who were sent as exiles to prison camps in Siberia.
