Operation Gisela - Echoes of a Sacrifice

On the night of 3rd/4th March 1945, the Luftwaffe of then Nazi Germany launched an audacious attempt to intercept the Allied RAF Bomber streams returning from the night's raids on the Dortmund/Elms Canal and the synthetic oil refinery at Kamen.  A surprise attack but a strategic failure that resulted in many losses on all sides.

The story is told through interviews with friends, relatives and a survivor of one of the many crashes.  Archive footage and memorabilia are stark reminders of the reality of the tragedy and further research presents graphic detail unfolding that night.
