Submarine Force Museum

The Submarine Force Museum in Groton, Connecticut, located beside the U.S. Navy’s primary submarine base, preserves the history, technology, and traditions of American undersea warfare, making it the largest submarine museum in the world. Its centrepiece is the USS Nautilus, the world’s first nuclear-powered submarine, which visitors can walk through to experience firsthand the cramped conditions and revolutionary technology that transformed naval warfare. Through clear, accessible exhibits, personal stories, and memorials, the museum balances technical achievement with human experience, honouring the submariners who served—and those who were lost—beneath the sea.
