Submarine museum

Keroman Submarine Base

Built by the Germans during the Second World War, this base sheltered German submarines (U-Boats) during the Battle of the Atlantic. After the Liberation, the base was taken over by the French Navy, who left it in 1997.

Starting in the 2000s, the site was successfully repurposed. It is now a very important economic, tourist and nautical hub (Eric Tabarly Sailing museum, Submarine Flore and its museum, submariners’ museum du Pays de Lorient, ocean racing centre, the contemporary music concert hall (Hydrophone…).
