The Canadian Air Force Base in Söllingen was a significant military installation operational from 1953 to 1993. It served as a crucial hub for Canadian forces during the Cold War and played a pivotal role in NATO’s defense strategy. The base housed a variety of aircraft and units, including combat planes such as the F-104G Starfighter. Following its closure, the site was converted into the civilian Baden Airpark airport. Today, the Air Force Museum Söllingen commemorates the history and heritage of this former military facility, offering insights into the exciting era of aviation history.
Within the museum, many veterans and eyewitnesses are still actively involved, eager to vividly recount the base’s eventful history.
