- 1941 German battleship Bismarck sink battle cruiser Hood after firing 3 salvos, 1418 sailors die.
- 1975 Vietnamese forces mobilise and recapture Phu Quoc and Tho Chu.
- 1982 HMS Sir Galahad and Sir Lancelot & Sir Tristram are bombed in San Carlos waters known as bomb alley.
